As the dreaded election day comes closer, all parties involved have been doing all they can to remain in the spotlight. Chants of change, transformation and
many more have been the order of the day, posters and flyers can also be noticed on billboards, vehicles, walls and so on. Amidst all these, two parties prove to be the strongest contenders for the presidential post ; All Progressive Congress APC and the People's Democratic Party PDP. Each parties have started receiving alliances from corporate bodies and individuals.
Last week Friday, Governor Akpabio of Akwa Ibom state has assured President Goodluck Jonathan of at least 1.5million votes in the coming election. He made this statement during the presidential campaign rally in Akwa Ibom on friday.
President Goodluck Jonathan also stressed on the fact that states with PDP governors are doing well than their other counterparts . He backed up this statement by pointing to some facts like all PDP states have a State University. He also talked about the football stadium in Akwa Ibom which is worth about 30billion naira. In addition, he said governors from PDP act based on the interest of civilians and indigenes and not merely on order from above. He went ahead to promise citizens that if elected for a second term, he would make sure the construction of the Ibaka deep seaport becomes a reality. He also said he would change the Maritime Academy of Nigeria to Maritime University. He finished by saying Nigeria needs transformation and not change.
